Three Libertas staff members - Maya, Program Manager, Sara, Program Coordinator, and Ben, Senior Medical Educator - attended the discussion hosted by the New York Immigration Coalition on August 13. The NYIC Roundtable brings Coalition members together each year to set policy and program priorities for the future. As a Coalition member, Libertas has a say in the NYIC’s organizational goals concerning civil and immigrant rights, public health, economic opportunity, and more, which are crucial to protecting the future of New York City’s immigrant communities.

Libertas Celebrates Women's History Month with Elmhurst Hospital
In March 2018, the Libertas Medical Director gave the keynote address at an Elmhurst Hospital Women’s History Month event titled “Honoring Women Who Fight All Forms of Discrimination.” The presentation focused on the work of the Libertas Center and other health care disparity challenges and was attended by over 150 doctors, social workers, and other health care professionals.

Libertas Summer Medical Student Presents at NCTTP
A 2nd year Mt. Sinai medical student who interned with Libertas during the summer of 2017 presented the findings of our Social/Legal service utilization study at the National Consortium of Torture Treatment Programs (NCTTP) Annual Research Symposium in March 2018, in Washington, DC.
