Dr. McVane Speaks at IRCT-IFEG Fall Webinar

Dr. Ben McVane presented at the International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims-Independent Forensic Expert Group Fall Webinar on October 14. The webinar focused on the challenges and best practices when providing tele-evaluations of patients during the COVID-19 pandemic as in-person evaluations continue to pose a danger to both providers and patients.

Dr. Fernando Presents In Virtual Self-Care Course for Healthcare Professionals

Dr. Fernando was a faculty member and presenter for the eight-week virtual course, “Beyond Burnout: A New Approach to Self-Care during the COVID-19 Pandemic,” offered from October to December. The course was designed for staff in torture treatment programs to simultaneously learn and practice a variety of self-care techniques, and to provide resources to help staff process the challenges of their work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Libertas Art Therapists' Present at the NCTTP's 12th Annual Research Symposium

Libertas Art Therapist, Melissa Alvey and Libertas Former Art Therapy Intern, Krystal Atwood presented at the National Consortium of Torture Treatment Programs (NCTTP) Annual Research Symposium in March of 2020. Their presentation was entitled, “Reimagining the Past: How Healing, Facilitated Through Art Therapy, Promotes Community and Relationship Building for Survivors of Torture”
